Ambassador Amy Deosaran 1975 - 2015

It is with great sorrow that I post this message. SharkBytes Ambassador Amy Deosaran passed away on Friday November 20th.

The conservation world lost a true warrior with the passing of Ambassador Amy Deosaran. She was not only my partner in the fight to save sharks but my dear friend. If you are reading this it means you must have downloaded my app, and you have probably read her monthly blogs right here about shark conservation. She was truly an inspiration to all who knew her and will be deeply missed by everyone who had the privilege of being a part of her life. I have never met anyone who cared about animals and wildlife as much as Amy. You are already missed my friend. I keep waiting for your weekly call so we can talk about sharks and how we are going to change the world. Thank you for all you did for sharks, wildlife in general, and for me. You really did make a difference partner and I promise you this, I will never stop fighting for sharks!!!

Amy was born in Frederick, MD on July 25, 1975. After graduating from Brunswick High School, Amy worked in accounting for many years before dedicating her time to wildlife conservation. In recent years Amy spent countless hours consulting with individuals, communities, organizations and governments all over the world promoting wildlife conservation. Amy was extremely passionate about sharks and teaching people how important sharks are in the ecosystem.

Amy loved the outdoors. Whether by boat or on land, Amy took in everything nature had to offer. She enjoyed walking beaches looking for sea glass, hiking through the forest studying animal tracks and counting the various species of birds in the area. Above all else, Amy always put her family and friends first, offering a compassionate heart to anyone in need.

Amy is survived by her loving husband, Scott Deosaran, whom she married in 2002; her mother, Suzanne Atwood Ramsburg and her husband Herbert of Hedgesville, WV; her son, Nicholas Deosaran; maternal grandfather, Gerald Karn and a cousin, Jennifer Blackburn of Frederick, MD. She was preceded in death by her grandmother, Eva Karn.

"I BECAME A TRIPLE AMBASSADOR TO GIVE WILDLIFE A VOICE IT DOES NOT HAVE. I AM A OPEN WATER SCUBA DIVER ( I LOVE SHARKS). MY FEELINGS ARE WE MUST HELP SAVE THE SHARKS! EXTINCTION IS NOT AN OPTION FOR THE SHARKS. THEY ARE ONE OF THE WORLD'S MOST BEAUTIFUL, SMART, AMAZING SPECIES, AND WE ARE KILLING THEM OFF.THEY CONTROL TWO THIRDS OF THE WORLD. SHARKS ARE NOT MINDLESS EATING MACHINES. THEY ARE VERY INTELLIGENT. SHARK'S HAVE SURVIVED FOR OVER 450 MILLION YEARS, AND THEY HAVE BEEN ABLE TO ADAPT TO EVERYTHING SO FAR,TO SURVIVE THAT LONG. ALTHOUGH I AM AFRAID AT THE ALARMING RATE WE ARE KILLING THEM ,THIS MAY BE THE TIME THEY WON'T BE ABLE TO SURVIVE. WE GO ON SHARK HUNTS BECAUSE THEY ACCIDENTALLY HURT, OR KILL MAYBE TEN PEOPLE A YEAR. HUMANS KILL APPROXIMATELY 100 MILLION SHARKS A YEAR. SHARKS DO NOT LIKE THE TASTE OF HUMAN BLOOD. WHO ARE THE REAL KILLERS HERE? SHARKS ARE JUST DOING WHAT THEY HAVE DONE FOR MILLIONS OF YEARS, THAT IS TRYING TO SURVIVE..SO HERE"S A WORD OF ADVICE, IF WE WANT TO HAVE SHARKS AROUND FOR ANY AMOUNT OF TIME, PLEASE GIVE THEM A VOICE THAT THEY DON"T HAVE! THEY NEED ALL THE HELP THEY CAN GET!

ALSO I AM INVOLVED IN HELPING IN CLEANING UP PARKS TO HELP PROTECT, AND SAVE THE WILDLIFE. I AM REALLY JUST ABOUT DOING ANYTHING TO HELP SAVE, AND PROTECT ANY ANIMALS, OR SEA LIFE. AS WELL AS RESTORE THE BEACHES. THE ANIMALS NOT ONLY NEED THEM, BUT SO DO OUR FUTURE GENERATIONS. WHAT WOULD WE TELL THEM YEARS FROM NOW?...WHEN EVERYTHING IS DESTROYED, OR GONE, AND WE ARE ASKED: "WHAT WAS WILDLIFE OUTSIDE OF A ZOO?" OR "WHAT WAS IT LIKE TO SPEND THE DAY AT THE BEACH?", "THAT IS A CLEAN BEACH?" OR "HOW ABOUT A DAY AT THE PARK, A CLEAN PARK?" WHAT IS YOUR ANSWER GOING TO BE? AT THIS RATE, THE TRUTH WOULD BE, WE COULD HAVE SAVED IT ALL, BUT WE WERE JUST TO BUSY, OR JUST NOT ENOUGH PEOPLE CARED.THAT IS WHY I AM DOING ANYTHING I CAN WHEN IT COMES TO HELPING TO SAVE WILDLIFE, SHARKS, SEA LIFE, PARKS, BEACHES, AND TO HELP TEACH THE CHILDREN. THANK YOU FOR YOUR INTEREST."
